Reading an analog meter with a camera

The mount hangs a Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32-S3 Sense over a circular gauge or water meter so its camera looks straight at the dial. A collar wraps the housing, the hood carries the board and the camera, and a removable cap closes the top. Three collar modes cover different housings: rest-on for a meter you can look down at, a snap bead behind an accessible bezel, and a strap clamp with a zip-tie groove for everything else.

Measure the rim diameter, the lower housing diameter, the collar length and the glass depth below the rim with calipers. The water-meter and pressure-gauge presets come from circle fits of the scanned housings and are a starting point rather than a guarantee, because scan noise and printer tolerances both affect the fit. The two presets differ mainly in how far the camera sits above the rim and in which mounting mode suits them.

You can also align one of the supplied scans, or your own STL up to 32 MiB, by picking three widely spaced points on the outer housing rim. The comparison checks radial bore clearance around that circle only. It does not check the snap bead, the stems, the hinges, nearby pipework or the complete collision envelope, so keep the lid and hinge notch as small as the housing allows.
