A pocket that hangs on the bedframe
A deep storage pocket with straight vertical fins hangs over a bedframe rail, with the reader leaning back inside it and the top of the screen still readable. Each fin tapers from a 1.6 mm root to a flat 0.8 mm edge, with small bevels at the edge and the top, and the rounded pocket entry guides the reader in against smooth inner faces.
The default rail is a measured MALM top at 69.25 mm from the outside face to the mattress side, with 0.6 mm of frame clearance and a 45 mm hook drop. The default reader is a 2024 Kindle Paperwhite at 127.5 × 176.7 × 7.8 mm, given 1.5 mm of clearance on every side and face. Kobo Clara BW, Clara Colour and Libra Colour presets use published dimensions and exclude covers, so measure your own reader in its case instead if you use one.
The pocket rim sits 20 mm below the top of the frame and at least 30 mm of the reader stays exposed for pulling it out. Walls, floor, spine, bridge and rear hook all share one 3 mm thickness, and the finished part has to fit a 256 × 256 mm bed. Allow extra space if you line it with felt, check that the hook has room between rail and mattress, and confirm the fit and strength on the actual bed before leaving a reader in it.
